Things to do with Kids this winter | Joburg & Cape Town

It’s time to haul out those warm, comfortable and fuzzy jerseys, scarves and hats and to pack away the cool shorts and sandals – winter has arrived and it is here in full force. Not being the types to let the cold dampen our spirits here at Things to do with Kids, we have found a variety of fun, exciting and adventurous activities to keep our families active and warm.

CapeGate Shopping Centre – ‘Into the Jungle’ Holiday Entertainment

A thrilling, warm and indoor jungle experience for your little explorers, while you get to explore the shops. Think giant jungle-themed inflatables, VR movies, online jungle games, jungle dress up outfits, 3D drawing and much more.

Disney on Ice: The Wonderful World of Disney

Let your family be captivated by an incredible Disney cast, mesmerising costumes and fascinating ice skating.

Canal Walk’s Peter Pan

I am yet to meet someone who does not love the heart-warming, magical and adventurous story of Peter Pan. This locally produced Peter Pan spectacular is bound to impress all who watch it.

Incredible Illusions – 3D Art Exhibition

The kids will be mesmerised by Kurt Wenner’s famous 3D art exhibition.

Franschhoek Bastille Festival

Visit the gourmet capital of South Africa and indulge in a weekend of delicious food, good wine and kids’ activities.

Winter Wonderland 2017

As part of the Festival of Lights extravaganza, Gordon’s Bay will be hosting the brand-new Winter Wonderland Festival which will be held over two Carnival Weekends. Expect a variety of craft and food stalls, live music, a beer tent, a fun park, a ghost house and much more.

Cableway Kidz Season

This winter, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is running their Kidz Season 3 for 1 Special again: 2 x kids under 18 ride for free with the purchase of 1 x adult return ticket, incl. a treasure map to explore and a treat voucher.

Acrobranch

For a day of outdoor adventure, teach your kids to love nature by getting active with an Acrobranch tree-climbing experience. There are a number of age-appropriate obstacle courses (all supervised by trained professionals) as well as adrenaline fuelling experiences, such as zip lining and the acro-bungy.
Where: Branches in Cape Town and the Garden Route

Puss in Boots Pantomime

The Adventures of Mr Toad, a Musical

Lipizzaners

Every Sunday brings with it another awe-inspiring 60min Lipizzaner showcase guaranteed to entertain the entire family (the kids are even allowed to feed the horses after the show). Be sure to enjoy a family meal at the family-friendly Café Capriole.
